1. From birth or adoption in your youth: ...where you are part of a Catholic family and learn the Faith from a combination of your parents and attendance at Catholic schools (where the Catechism of the Catholic Church is part of the core curriculum), or participation in the CCD Program if you attended public schools.
2. From non-Christian adulthood: participation in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
3. From non-Catholic Christian adulthood: participation in RCIA.
Beginning instruction in the RCIA program does not obligate you in any way. During the first several weeks, you have the opportunity to study Catholic doctrine, learn gospel values, and ask a lot of questions. At the beginning of the second period of instruction, students (candidates) make a decision to either express their intention to respond to God's call to follow the way of Christ, or decide that they are not so disposed - and leave the program.
Monitor the Church Weekly Bulletins, the bulletin board in the Church vestibule, and the Church website for announcements during the month of August/September. RCIA usually begins with the new school year, and registration forms will be available in the Church. Sign-up days are usually two or three weeks prior to the first class.
